The Flower and Garden festival kicked off yesterday. It was a beautiful day in Epcot. I learned a few new things this year. The first being the festival center is only open on the weekends. What is the festival center? I’m glad you asked. It’s where they do demonstrations, ones on gardening, of course. They also have displays, guest speakers and merchandise in there too. Speaking of merchandise, there’s a ton of it. Shirts, pins, a magic band and of course garden décor. I love the Minnie flower design. The festival merchandise is also available around world showcase.
Let’s talk topiaries. They are beautiful, all 17 of them. Some are returning from previous years and some new ones. Daisy welcomes you as you enter Epcot. There is a topiary in every country and a few on your way to world showcase. You’ll defiantly want to check them all out.
As you are making your way around world showcase you not only can take in the beauty but also eat some special foods and drink inspired by the Flower and Garden festival. There are booth set up all around world showcase (very similar for food and wine). There is a passport with the menu and topiaries to help guide you along the way. My favorite food sampling was the shrimp and grits from the Florida fresh booth paired with the key lime sparkling wine. YUM!
A few other things worth mentioning. There is also the Garden Rock concert series. Well known bands will be around on the weekends to give some tunes to the festival. A fun playground for the kids to play on, complete with a shady area for grownups to rest. And during the month of March an egg hunt for the kids.
The Epcot Flower and Garden festival runs through May 30. That gives you plenty of time to get in a trip in to experience it all for yourself. Your friends at Kingdom Destinations are here to walk you through the planning process for free.
