EPCOT’S INTERNATIONAL FOOD AND WINE FESTIVAL: REVIEW

This tasty festival has no shortage of delicious food and drink from all over the world. It is for sure something you do not want to miss, when visiting the Walt Disney World Resort. Many foodies will schedule their entire visit, year after year, around this very popular event. This year the festival is running from 8/30/2018-11/12/2018.

What can you expect when you visit EPCOT, during the Food and Wine Festival? The obvious is true- more food and drink than you can enjoy in just one day, that is for sure. However, there is also something for everyone. There are non-alcoholic drinks, for kiddos to try and also a fun scavenger hunt game to keep the kids occupied while you walk through World Showcase.

Here is a picture of the map, for the kids. It is $6.99 and the idea is to look for Remy at each country listed on the map. When you find Remy, look to see what item he is holding, and put the corresponding sticker in the country you find him. Then once the map is full, you turn it in and the kids can pick their gift (their choice of one of 4 cups, which is a change from the usual trading pin).

Now that you are ready to dive in and enjoy some tasty treats, grab your Festival Passport and let’s be on our way.

Professional Tip- Get a game plan for which booths you want to stop at and what food or drink you wish to try. It is a definite time saver than simply waling up to each booth, checking out the menu, and deciding on the spot what you want to order…if anything at all! So, read through the menus, in the passport, grab a pen and mark the things that jump out at you. Then make your way through World Showcase to your booths!

I will share with you our favorite things that we ate and drank.

At Active Eats, we got the loaded mac and cheese and the Pineapple Coconut Hard Sparkling Water. These were both fantastic. The hard water was perfectly refreshing, if you like seltzer water type drinks. The mac and cheese had a little bit of spice, not much, and full of flavor.

Coastal Eats had a delicious crab cake and shrimp scampi dip. I thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp scampi. It was perfectly creamy, full of flavor, and perfectly paired with the sourdough baguette.  The crab cake was perfect as well. It had a great consistency and extremely nice flavor.

Who doesn’t love chocolate? Ok, one of my boys doesn’t care for chocolate. However, the Chocolate Studio booth did not disappoint. We tried the Sweet Dark Chocolate Raspberry Torte. This was sooooo good. Creamy, mild dark chocolate flavor (because you know how strong dark chocolate can taste). The raspberry was perfectly paired with it.

We also swung by The Cheese Studio. We tried the Braised Beef Strganoff. It had tiny egg noodles and full of deliciousness. My husband rated this one an 8 out of 10.

We also tried the Sparkling Blueberry Wine and it was incredible! Quite refreshing!

From the Almond Orchard, we got the Creamy Spinach Artichoke Dip. It came with pulled chicken, toasted almonds, and parmesan cheese. It was served with small, nut thins crackers. This was definitely one of my personal favorites. The only downside is that the crackers were a little too small to use to scoop up some of the dip. But this dip was phenomenal and I will definitely be getting it again.

One of our favorite booths to stop through is Hawaii. We tried the pork slider, the passion fruit cheesecake, the blonde lager, sparkeling pineapple wine, and the mai tai. Every single one of these options are fantastic and definitely deserve to be tasted for yourselves. All were rated a 9 out of 10.

In Africa, we sampled the Jam Jar sweet red shiraz. It has a very nice texture and bold flavor. It was one of my husbands favorites, but I am a moscato kind of a girl.  So, Italy is where it is at for my moscato people.

One of my other most favorite things that we tried was over in America, at Hops and Barley. Their warm lobster roll was absolutely delicious! The roll was super soft and with the warm lobster and fresh herb mayonnaise…it truly could not have been any better. Incredible!

Finally, over in Canada, we got the fillet minion. This was perfectly done as well. I am such an A1 girl….but I am “sad” to say that with this steak, I did not miss having it.
