In the meantime, let us simplify it for you while we break it down into the four different resort categories.
Disney’s value resorts
Disney’s value resorts are the most affordable accommodations at Walt Disney World and have the most Disney theming. Throughout these properties, you will see huge structures of Disney characters which make for excellent photo opportunities with little ones and other Disney fans.
At the value resorts, the rooms are quaint, the properties are large and each building features exterior hallways. All value resorts have a quick service restaurant similar to a food court setting which offers a variety of different menu options for every taste bud.
Most of the value resorts offer bus transportation to the parks with the exception of Disney’s Pop Century and Disney’s Art of Animation which share a Disney Skyliner Station. The Disney Skyliner is Disney’s gondola system which offers quick access to Epcot and Hollywood Studios.
You will also find one bedroom suites at Disney’s Art of Animation and Disney’s All-Star Music resorts which will accommodate up to six guests. These accommodations are great for larger families who need a little more space but want to save on hotel costs.
All Disney value resorts also feature elaborate themed pools with scheduled activities and a poolside bar.
Disney’s moderate resorts
Moving up a category, Disney’s moderate resorts feature slightly bigger rooms, many of which will accommodate families of five. Just like the value resorts, most of the buildings at the moderate resorts feature exterior hallways so you may have to brave the outdoor elements when venturing to the main lobby and dining.
Disney’s moderate resorts are some of the biggest properties at Walt Disney World. For this reason, we always recommend booking a preferred room so you will be guaranteed a room in a building closest to the lobby, dining and bus transportation. At the end of a long park day, you will thank us for this recommendation!
Most of Disney’s moderate resorts feature a quick service restaurants table service restaurants and lounges.
Transportation varies from resort to resort but all offer bus transportation with multiple bus stops situated around the property. Disney’s Caribbean Beach resort also features a Disney Skyliner station with transportation to Epcot and Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Fort Wilderness provides boat service to Magic Kingdom. You can even take a boat from Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter to Disney Springs, Disney’s downtown shopping and restaurant district.
The pools at the moderate resorts offer more entertainment such as water slides and spray cannons.
Disney’s deluxe resorts
Disney’s deluxe resorts are best described as being luxurious with spacious rooms, more amenities and situated very close to the theme parks. Many of the rooms can accommodate up to five guests and the resorts offer many more dining options including a quick service restaurant, casual table service restaurants plus lounges and signature restaurants. The resorts are very similar to what you would find at traditional hotels. Plus, you will not see a lot of Disney theming at these resorts.
All the deluxe resorts feature standard hotel rooms and suites with special perks including access to the club level lounges. These lounges feature a dedicated concierge and refreshments throughout the day.
Clearly, one of the best reasons to stay at a deluxe resorts is the convenience to the theme parks. Some resorts are close enough that you could walk, ride the monorail or take a short boat ride. You may even get a glimpse of the fireworks from your deluxe resort before you tucker in for the night.
Disney’s deluxe resorts also have some of the best pools onsite. All the pools feature water slides while many include spraygrounds, jacuzzis and even a lazy river.
Disney’s deluxe villas
Disney’s deluxe villas are very similar to Disney’s deluxe resorts except they offer extra space with suite style accommodations and the conveniences of home with kitchens, washers/dryers and other appliances. These deluxe villas were designed for Disney’s Vacation Club timeshare owners but anyone can reserve these villas. Some villas are situated on the same property as Disney’s deluxe resorts and other villas have their own standalone properties.
The deluxe villas room types range from studios to one, two and three bedroom suites. These accommodations are perfect for multiple families who want to enjoy the experience of staying at a Disney World resort together.
