Your Guide to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

This year’s Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party have just begun at the Magic Kingdom, with the first party being last night.  Will you be attending this year?  Want to know what to expect?  Keep reading for a full overview of party details and special events only available to party guests.

Here is a copy of this year’s event map and schedule for the parties, but I will also highlight the details below.

The party begins on select nights promptly at 7PM.  Guests with a party ticket may enter as early as 4PM.  If you are wondering about FastPasses, you CAN make FastPass+ reservations between the hours of 4-6:30, but there are no FastPasses after the party begins at 7PM.  All attractions will be standby only, but if you have ever been to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in the past, you know that standby lines are practically walk on.

For guests without party tickets, party dates are typically great days to visit the Magic Kingdom.  A lot of guests don’t want to spend a day at the Magic Kingdom because it closes early and feel it’s not worth it to “waste” a ticket when the park closes so early.  Truth be told, it’s a great day to visit the Magic Kingdom BECAUSE so many guests have those thoughts about the park closing early.  On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being the least crowded, party days are generally rated a 2.  As an annual pass holder, I actually like visiting the Magic Kingdom on party dates and enjoying very low wait times for popular attractions.

That being said, guests without party tickets will be politely directed to the front of the park around 6PM, a lot of times around 5PM.  The closer it gets to party time, the more aggressive cast members get about making sure non-party guests have passed through he exit before the party begins.  If you think you can get away with sneaking around and lolly gagging in a store past 7, it won’t work.  Don’t ask me how I know….just trust me.  😉  They’ve seen it all.

Scheduled Events
  • 8:30PM:  Boo to You Parade
  • 9:15PM:  Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular
  • 10:00PM:  Celebrate the Magic
  • 10:15PM:  Happy Hallowishes Fireworks Spectacular
  • 10:40PM:  Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular
  • 11:15PM:  Boo to You Parade
  • 12:00AM:  Hocus Pocus Villain Spectacular
Trick or Treating

Throughout the event, guests can enjoy trick or treating at various locations in the park.  You can find these locations both on the map and in the park marked by pumpkin Mickey heads.  The amount of candy you are handed is quite generous, and a lot of it is pretty good stuff!  Yeah, you get a few handfuls of Tootsie Rolls and something called “Peanut Chews,” but there is also a good deal of Kit Kats, Skittles, and Reese’s.  What to do with all that candy?  We save ours and pass it out on Halloween.  It helps cut down on our candy expenses.  Okay…we *might* eat a lot of it, too. Here are some pics from past hauls from some friends of mine.

Special trick or treat bags will be handed out as you enter the park after 4PM.  There will also be special check in select locations in the park, if you are planning on spending the day there. If you or someone in your family has allergies, no worries!  You can swing by one of two allergy friendly centers and receive a special teal colored treat bag, which will let the cast members at the various trick or treat locations know that you need allergy free options.

Shopping

Alright!  We’ve done the things, eaten the food, and rode the rides.  What’s left?  How about some shopping!  There is some great specialty merchandise available for the season, and a lot of it is only available during the party.  So, if you see it and think, “Eh, we’ll be back to the Magic Kingdom in a couple of days, I’ll get it then!” or “I bet I can order it online.”  Wrong.  Get it right then and there.  I have to say that I’m loving a couple of the shirts this year, and I’m going to have a tough time choosing!  If you are going to a party in September, you have a great shot of getting what you want, but I would expect a lot of the merchandise supply to dwindle as it gets closer to Halloween and the end of the parties.

There is also some limited merchandise for Annual Passholders, as well.  Be sure to have your annual pass and photo ID on you when you make your purchase!
